The CIRED 2024 Vienna Workshop ‘Increasing Distribution Network Hosting Capacity’ took place in Vienna (Austria) on 19 – 20 June 2024. Our colleague, Luciana Marques, was there and presented the work on ‘Embedding operating envelopes in the market design to unlock the flexibility potential of distribution grids’ during the poster presentation. CIRED focused on the challenges of distribution systems to safely increase hosting capacity, which included the topic of grid-safe flexibility provision from distribution-connected resources. In that direction, the poster discussed results on how operating envelopes can be used to guarantee the grid-safe provision of flexibility from LV-connections to TSO-level markets (e.g., balancing markets such as aFRR and mFRR).

In the coming weeks, we will have detailed work published on prequalification in D3.2.
